I took some photos at my boyfriends brother's wedding and thought I'd get some critique on them. They had an official photographer I just took some as a favor to the family and also to practice with my new camera. I have only been practicing and learning about photography for a short time.
Thanks for looking!

Hi, Aidan.
Welcome to our little forum! Since you asked for some opinons, I've always got a few...
I've done a few weddigns, but I'm no pro. Each image you posted could possibly be improved a bit, so I'll run down them real quick and give you my feedback - for what it's worth.
First one - Nice capture of the moment , but Image is tipped - need to straighten it up coutnerclockwise. Camera lady on the left is distracting. The shadow from the flash is being cast to the right in your portriat mode - that is why some people use a flash bracket, to put the flash behind the subjects and not to the side. Slight overexposure on the white shirt arms and parts of the dress - not an easy thing to avoid with white and black clothes!
Second one - Again, you hit the shutter button at a great time, but it has a few problems. It's a little crooked too. If you want your image crooked or rotated a bit, make it look like it's supposed to be that way. Slight rotation sometimes looks like a mistake. THe white balance with this image is off - the first one is more correct. See the color of the shirt is too warm compared to the first.
Third one - too much vignetting - or at least the darkening seems to stretch too far into the image, and it seems to have lost contrast. The hand behind the head is lost. THis one is a bit crooked, too.
Forth one - l like this one, and the only thing I would do is crop some of the left-side out - not sure what that skin is and don't want to know. Crop out the white on the wrist, too - it pulls your eyes away from the hands and gift.
On your second post, the first picture of the 4 people - your darkening of the edges has reduced the contrast of the faces. make the vignetting tigher at the edge so it doesn't cut into the faces . Need more blacks in the shot - maybe that is what is missing with the low contrast?
The 2nd one with the bride is a nice candid shot, but the bride may not like how her chin looks. Again, a flash bracket would help that shadow to the right. This one could also be brightened up a bit.
3rd one of bride - same comments as above. I might have kept her whole necklass in the shot instead of cutting if off.
Hope that helps - keep up the good work! _________________

Thank you for your comments, they help a lot. I like getting feedback like this and it will help for the next time I take pictures.
I look forward to getting to know some of you and should see some of you at your next meeting. |
